We got so much more out of our 9 days in Niseko because we started it out with The Powder Guides. One day in Niseko and one day trip to Rusutsu gave us a great knowledge and feel of which secret spots had the best snow at the right time. The thing on a short trip is to max the experience and the amount you can ski the real fun stuff – the best snow and the best terrain. That’s exactly what TPG delivered. From off piste beginner to serious skier I’d say money well spent.

I skied in Niseko for 2 weeks before I took a tour with Adrian, in those two weeks I had private lessons, and classes at the highest level. one day with Adrian was better than all that I had done before. It was that good, I went with him three more times before I left hokaido. I skied harder, covered more terrain, had better snow, and improved immeasurably. HIs advice was sound, and comes from experience. He knows the mountains better than other locals, testament to the fact we skied untracked powder until last run of the day, long after the resort appeared tracked out to the uneducated eye. If you travel all the way to Japan, you really should go for the guided tour, there are few things in life I can highly recommend, but a guided tour of the mountains with Adrian is one of them.

Last season we were first timers at Niseko. You showed us around the mountain on our first day and it really helped. We had never done the tree thing before and we would not have found the sites that you took us to, so we were enlightened, which made for a better week of skiing the powder terrains at Niseko. Even though in our group of 5 friends we were all competent skiers your expertise and advice was just what we needed to get us started in Japan , so thanks again. I would recommend Adrian to anyone who either wants to be quickly shown around or who wants to improve their powder technique.

My husband and I had a fabulous morning out skiing with Adrian last winter (Feb 2011) in Niseko. Fresh untracked powder all day. And we didn’t even have to go out of bounds to get it. It was pure magic. We only wish we’d called Adrian on our 1st day – not our last! But we’ll be back for more.

It is always great to ski with Adrian in Niseko each season. He has a knack of finding the best runs and powder on the day and we always have a fabulous time.

Thanks for the past few days, it has been outstanding! You pushed all parts of our group with the expert skiers having their best ever runs, and the intermediates lifting their levels enormously, see you again next year.

I felt compelled to drop you a line just to let you know that we had a fantastic day at Rusutsu with The Powder Guides. You did a fantastic job catering to both our experience levels and were great company to boot. Sufficed to say no future trip to Hokkaido will ever be complete again without at least one day spent with one of your guides. I will definitely be recommending you to others that need a Niseko Backcountry guide or trip to nearby resorts.

It’s been a pleasure skiing with you this year, the runs we skied in the Niseko backcountry were the best of my life! have a good rest of your season and enjoy your trip to bali!

The lessons & guiding was a huge success from our point of view. It could not have gone better. Both days were perfect powder skiing experiences for us. We all improved our skiing and the boys are still talking about how much they learned. For my part, I was particularly impressed by the flexibility in taking us to Rusutsu when the winds were up at Niseko. I am sure we would have had a good day in Niseko, but instead we had an outstanding day of tree skiing and the opportunity to look at another resort. The remaining three days skiing on our own were fabulous, and we all agree that the lesson/guiding experience first up was critical to that. I would recommend what we did to anyone. It made the whole holiday.

Todd did a fantastic job as my guide. He is obviously very knowledgeable, is a lot of fun to ski with and has a great sense of adventure. We did the first day at Niseko/Hirafu, the second at Kiroro and then the last two at Rusustu. All were superb. We more or less skied untracked or barely tracked powder every run. It was the closest thing to heli skiing that I have experienced and easily the best resort skiing I have ever done.
All the best,

We had a fantastic day with Sam. He was a terrific guide and we had a bluebird deep pow day. It doesn’t get any better! 🙂

Booking private lessons with the Powder Guides was the best decision i made in Niseko. My instructor Hugo was fantastic! Not only was he a great instructor on the slopes, but the recommendations he gave me (for restaurants, bars, insensitive, things to do) and his over-the-call-of-duty service really made my trip! 10 out of 10. I will be booking again when i come back.

Just got back from skiing Rusutsu with Sam. Had a great day and Sam was an awesome guide. Knew the mountain extremely well and was an all round legend. We were all stoked to spend the day with him. Thanks very much.
